Rules
- Members are required to have read, understood and comply in every respect with the “Rules”, “Risk Assessment”, “Health & Safety” and “Safeguarding” provisions, policies and procedures published by the Club and as may be amended or superseded from time to time.
- The river water extends from Somerset Bridge downstream to the road bridge on the A3. Both banks may be fished, except for two short stretches: on the south bank from Deer Bridge upstream to Somerset Bridge (opposite Beat E); and on the north bank just west of the pill box downstream in front of Peper Harow House (opposite part Beat A and Beat B) . Members must ensure they neither wade, cast nor fish beyond the mid-point of the river on Beat E, part Beat A and Beat B. Members are directed to the Illustrative Map of River Beats for information regarding the beats and advised to contact the Hon. Secretary if any uncertainty still exists.
- A minimum notice period of 24 hours must be given to Somerset Farm to park and fish Beat E and a note left on the car dashboard providing the member’s mobile phone number.
- There are two lakes at Oxenford Farm, Oxenford Lake and Park Lake.
- Fishing to start on April 1st and to cease on October 31st for Rainbow and Brown trout. Fishing Beats F and H will cease on September 30th.
- Fishing is restricted to dry or wet fly, one fly only. The river may be fished wet or dry throughout the season and a second fly may be used on the river if upstream nymph fishing only.
- Spinning, worm or bait fishing is not permitted.
- Fishing from boats, canoes, etc is not permitted at any time.
- Members must not use power tools or equipment when undertaking maintenance work. In the event that a boat is required for access purposes then a life jacket or buoyancy aid must be worn when on the water and a minimum of one person in attendance bank side at all times.
- No fishing is permitted on the day of the Surrey Union’s Point-to-Point.
- The subscription for the following season will be decided at the AGM in November and it is due to be paid by February 1st. An additional £20.00 will be charged if the subscription is not paid by February 1st and the rod automatically lost if it is not paid by March 1st.
- Two guest tickets per annum are given to members. The ticket to be signed by the member. Guests to be given their tickets, which they must carry at all times, before they start fishing and place it in the tin in the hut at the end of the day. No guest ticket is valid until May 1st. Members and their Guests should complete the record book.
- Members and their guests intending to fish the river OR the lakes must enter their names in the record book before they start fishing. If no fish are taken, a nil return should be entered in the appropriate column in the record folder. The actual amount of time spent in each section of the river to be entered in the record folder. Please enter interesting comments if possible.
- Members fishing Beat E between 1 November and 14 March shall record their Catch Return on “Winter Grayling” WhatsApp.
- Extra day tickets are available from the Hon. Secretary, to be purchased at a cost of £10 per adult and £5 per juvenile under 18 years of age but there is no charge for children under 12 years of age. Members are permitted one guest per week.
- The DAILY limit of trout taken, that is caught and then killed, shall be TWO from either the lakes or the river. The WEEKLY limit of trout taken, that is caught and then killed, shall be SIX from either the lakes or the river. The fishing week starts on the Monday.
- Rainbow Trout, if caught and not injured or unduly stressed, may either be retained or returned to the water. Any injured fish are to be killed. If planning to release fish, members must use barbless hooks.
- The river is designated a Wild Trout Catch-and-Release Fishery on the Club’s waters and therefore members must use barbless hooks when fishing the river. Any Brown Trout under 10 inches (250 mm) in length and all wild Brown Trout must be released.
- Members must comply with the following best practice when catching, handling and releasing fish: bring the fish to the net as quickly as possible; use knotless nets; keep the fish in the water; handle the fish as little as possible and always with wet hands but be careful not to squeeze it; do not touch the gills or mouth; if necessary remove the hook using forceps; avoid placing the fish on the bank or gravel; release the fish by pointing its nose into the current; and support it gently until it swims away.
- The membership is not transferable. A Member may share a rod, as long as the Member is present with the rod user.
- All members must have an appropriate Environment Agency license.
- An Annual General Meeting will be held as soon as possible after the end of the season, usually late November.
- Members must not bring their dogs to the fishery.
- Neither Oxenford Farm, Somerset Farm nor The Peper Harow Park Fly Fishers Club accepts any liability for personal injuries received by fishermen using the waters, nor for any loss or damage to personal property or cars. This includes any damage from livestock.
- Cars should be parked in the area by Oxenford Farm, in front of the Club hut and adjacent farm buildings, taking care not to cause an obstruction.
- Members should wear their name badges at all times on Club waters. Members should brief their guests that they may be asked for identification.
- Members must always display the Club identifying badge in their vehicle when on the Oxenford Farm and Somerset Farm properties.
- Gates to be closed securely if found closed on arrival at all times.

Junior Member Rules
- To qualify as a junior member you must be under eighteen years of age as at 1st April in the year of application.
- All prospective junior members have to be sponsored by an adult member of the Club.
- All junior members must abide by the general club rules and their sponsoring member will be responsible for ensuring such compliance.
- The total junior membership will not exceed 25% of the adult membership of the Club.
- Junior members must be accompanied by an adult member at all times, even during fishing tuition. No junior member shall fish without the full supervision of an adult member.
- Junior members accepted into the club will not be required to pay a joining fee.
- Junior members aged twelve years and over as at 1st April will be charged an annual subscription equivalent to 25% of the adult member subscription for the year.
- Junior members under twelve years of age as at 1st April will not be required to pay an annual subscription.
- Junior members will not be entitled to guest tickets.
- When junior members become eighteen years of age as at 1st April, they will cease to become junior members and will have to apply for adult membership of the Club.
